Upon receiving notification from concerned individuals, Theruvoram NGO responded to reports of an elderly individual with apparent memory loss residing in the Ernakulam South railway station for more than a week. Upon arrival, it was observed that the individual was in a weakened state, exhibiting signs of neglect and unsanitary behaviour.

The elderly individual was found sitting on a bench on the railway platform, where he had been residing. It was noted that he was urinating and defecating in the same area where he was seated, resulting in unsanitary conditions rendering the area unusable by the public. Additionally, despite receiving food donations from compassionate people, the individual would discard leftover food at the same location, contributing to the emission of foul odours.

Upon arrival at the railway station, immediate contact was made with the Railway Urban Police to seek assistance in addressing the situation involving the elderly individual. Coordination with the station’s porters was swiftly organized, leading to the efficient cleaning of the affected area and restoration of its usability. Subsequently, the individual was transported to a medical hospital for thorough assessment and the issuance of a medical certificate. With the completion of medical procedures, Theruvoram NGO promptly assumed responsibility for the individual’s ongoing care and support, ensuring their well-being moving forward.
