District Legal Service Authority's Compassionate Intervention Brings Relief to Ailing Sivasankaran
The city of Kochi witnessed a touching display of humanity as the District Legal Service Authority stepped in to provide much-needed assistance to Sivasankaran (68), a resident of Dewans Road who had been living on the streets for the past four years. Sivasankaran's already challenging circumstances took a devastating turn when he was bitten by a mosquito on his right leg, leading to a severe infection. His leg became swollen, oozing with blood and pus, leaving him in agonizing pain and desperate for help.

| Despite his distressing condition, Sivasankaran was forced to endure his suffering alone, often hiding from view without seeking assistance. His plight came to the attention of a group of auto drivers who, moved by compassion, attempted to take him to a hospital for treatment. However, their efforts were thwarted as they were turned away due to the absence of anyone to vouch for Sivasankaran. |
It was at this critical juncture that Murugan, the dedicated secretary of a local NGO, received a distressing phone call about Sivasankaran's worsening condition. Without hesitation, Murugan sprang into action, swiftly making his way to the Kallur office to seek urgent assistance from Ranjith Krishna, Secretary of the Ernakulam District Legal Service Authority and sub-judge.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Secretary Krishna wasted no time in issuing a compassionate order. The directive ensured that Sivasankaran would receive free medical treatment, accommodation, and essential facilities, providing a glimmer of hope in what had seemed like an insurmountable ordeal for the ailing man without any relatives to protect him.
Under the auspices of the District Legal Service Authority's intervention, Sivasankaran was promptly transported to the Kottayam Medical College in the ambulance arranged by Theruvoram Murugan. The journey to the medical facility marked the beginning of Sivasankaran's road to recovery, offering him the chance for proper medical care and relief from the excruciating pain he had endured on the unforgiving streets of Kochi.
